About that Florida Postcard

Categories // Community News

Dear 4th District Neighbor:

Greetings from right here in a neighborhood near you in Indianapolis. Contrary to the Florida postcard you may have received signed with my forged name, I do not spend winters or any major portion of the year in Florida. I do not own a million dollar home there, and the condo we do own is not located on the water.
Most importantly, what I do not do is neglect the needs of District 4 residents.I am known for my tenacious work to pursue solutions to individual and neighborhood problems. Just in the last few weeks, I was able announce that the laddertruck stationed at 71st and Keystone would not be removed as had been planned. Although the removal was deemed a done deal, I kept up my fight to keep Laddertruck 21 no matter how many times my pleas were pushed aside.
My full time work on behalf of all District 4 residents has been recognized by three major community groups, the Forest Manor Multi-Service Center, Coalition of Northeast Neighborhoods, and The Greater Allisonville Community Council.  You can find more about what I have accomplished as your Councillor, by reading th other articles on my website
“Putting Public Service Ahead of Politics” is not just a campaign slogan I came up with. It is how District 4 residents and others think of me. Below are excerpts from a piece authored recently by a local Democrat blogger, Pat Andrews, about me, a Republican.
“…it is the responsibility of a Councillor to advocate for and support the needs of their constituents.  Which is exactly what District 4 Councillor, Christine Scales, did in getting the decision to decommission Ladder Truck 21 reversed.

Here is another paragraph from a neighborhood organization's letter:
District 4 Councilor Christine Scales is working feverishly to try to organize the homeowner's associations in her area to act. She has spent countless hours on researching response times, NFPA standards, insurance ratings, actual driving distances and times between firehouses, and documentation of fire burning rates, as well as many other fire related statistics. She is fully against Ladder 21 being shut down. All of the officials contacted seem to be concerned, but no one is willing to act. She isn't the only person within the City Government working in your favor, but she is the most diligent.
Scales is a well regarded Councillor, not just in District 4, but throughout Indianapolis.  She does her homework on issues, and does not always follow her caucus if she believes it contrary to what is best for her constituents.  I have said it before and I will say it again.  Christine Scales is a gem of a Councillor.  Her work to restore Ladder 21 is just one more example of her indefatigable efforts on behalf of the residents of District 4.  Indy could use more Councillors just like her.

The sad fact is that negative campaign ads are used because they are found to be effective. I hope you agree that resorting to lies tells you more of what you need to know about my opponent than what he’ll tell you about himself in any of his campaign pieces. If my opponent is willing to lie in order to become an elected official, what can you expect from him if he becomes one?

Christine(really!!)
